The subjects consisted of 16 people living in a welfare facility for the physically handicapped, Tonami. The year-long program (once a month) consisted of a warm-up, singing a song and playing a game to redevelop sensory motor and cognitive skill. When the recreation was finished, an interviewer asked the subjects about their level of satisfaction, and asked for immediate comments on the recreational activities. The top three comments selected were"good opportunity", "good relationship with others" and "good exercise". In addition, all interviewers suggested that an adaptation of recreational activities may be necessary so as to improve emotional and neuronal mechanisms.
