Participants were ten young and nine elder men with no physical disability. Four types of seat cushions - an urethane foam, a tempur, a gel type and an air flotation - were tested during a controlled reaching task in frontal direction. When a hip joint angle flexed, the flexion moment of a hip joint was occurred the power of a hip joint. Followed the extension moment of it was absorbed the power of it. And when a hip joint angle extended, the extension moment was occurred the power. Followed the flexion moment was absorbed the power. The energy of a hip joint was significantly decreased when participants reached with cushions. Compared there seat cushions, an urethane form and a tempur were showed a small energy and a gel and an air flotation were large value(p<0.01).
