| 内容記述 | Family caregivers of elderly persons with dementia, who become mentally and physically exhausted because of the pressures of home care, are forced to live under difficult circumstances. Many of them have no one to confide in and find themselves isolated at home, facing a serious situation. Family caregivers of elderly persons with dementia in the S district of Shinagawa Ward, Tokyo, banded together for a forum for discussion in which to be able to speak their minds to each other. That led to the start of the "Association of Families Who Care for Elderly Persons with Dementia" as part of classes on home care for the stay-at-home disabled elderly at a health care center in the district. I participated in the association as an adviser for seven years since its start in 1993. The families, who shared common problems, successfully restored their mental and physical health by forming a group (The Association of Families Who Care for Elderly Persons with Dementia) and joining the gathering continuously to build close cooperative relations among themselves. This research was conducted to focus on and analyze the group dynamism brought about by the association through the process. |
